Paint Dominance
Reading the Arc
Seventy percent of missed shots taken from the corner will bounce to the opposite side of the rim. Long shots yield long rebounds. If you are standing directly under the basket while a three-pointer is in the air, you are in the wrong place.
During our camp, we teach players to calculate trajectory the millisecond the ball leaves the shooter's hand. You must move to the designated drop zone before the ball hits the iron.
| Shot Origin | Primary Rebound Zone | Secondary Zone |
|---|---|---|
| Deep Wing / Corner | Opposite Block / Elbow | Short Corner |
| Top of the Key | Free Throw Line Extended | Directly Under Rim |
| Floater / Paint | Immediate Rim Area | Opposite Block |
Wedge Rebounding
When caught out of position, you must use the "wedge." This involves sliding your lead foot behind the defender's trail foot, creating a fulcrum point to gently but forcefully pivot them under the backboard, leaving you a clear angle for the ball. It is physical, border-line gritty, and highly effective.
